Gujarat Apollo Industries was incorporated as a joint venture between Apollo Earth Movers and Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation (GIIC) on October 7, 1986. It is the flagship company of Apollo Group of companies.

The company was originally known as Gujarat Apollo Equipments. It got the present name on November 28, 2006. In 1992, GIIC sold its holding to its promoter group.

Apollo is primarily engaged in the business of manufacturing various types of road construction and maintenance machinery with the assistance of technical tie-up with different foreign collaborators including Barber Greene, USA, Atlas Weyhausen of Germany, Nigatta Engineering of Japan, Cederapid of USA and KDS Holding of Germany. The other activities of the company are construction.

From a modest beginning, Gujarat Apollo today offers an entire range of road construction equipment that help in building roads that are safe, durable and economical.
